The Workshop Gallery at Stonecutters Lodge was reclaimed when the farm workshop was moved to the services building. We wanted to retain the workshop roughness but give the room a new look. Besides painting the interior white, an insulation product now lines the corrugated iron roof, new lights and fan fitted and a gallery hanging system installed.
The owners of the lodge, Margi Butler & Lesley Rush both enjoyed the creative arts and now at long last have a permanent studio in which to paint and draw and do mosaic. Other artists and friends have joined us and we meet weekly at Stonecutters and at our different art studios in the area to pursue our arts and crafts hobbies.
The Gallery will exhibit and sell work from this group and have also included the Paper Art crafted by Happy Mutongwizo and the wire and metal work of Mathayi Mgiba, who work fulltime on their art in our area.
From time to time Stonecutters Lodge has 3-day
Art packages available mid-week and at weekends. Eugene Hurter, a prominent landscape artist runs creative workshops and demonstrations from
The Workshop Gallery.
