Things to do around Stonecutters, Dullstroom, Lydenburg and Mpumalanga

Stonecutters Lodge is a secure and scenic country estate with river walks, a wetland with bird-hide, or a mountain hike with stunning views from the summit. . If you are into birding, Guerney’s sugar bird is often seen in the Protea bushes. There are numerous destinations on the property where guests can picnic or braai in an idyllic setting, and swimming in a river pool is an invigorating experience.

FLY-FISHING: As Stonecutters is a trout lodge offering 2 dams and three kilometres of river fishing, many of our guests choose to fly-fish. If you would like to learn to fly-fish a local guide can be hired to teach casting techniques and some of the basics. Fly-fishing  equipment is available for hire.

WALKING & JOGGING: The track behind Stone Manor leads to the weir deck on the river, which is a charming swimming, picnic and braai area. It is a 400m walk from Stone Manor (15 minutes) or a quick car ride.

BIRDWATCHING: A path left of the large dam leads to the bird hide overlooking the wetland. Purple Heron, Bald Ibis and others feathered friends are spotted from the hide. Kingfishers along the river and grassland birds abound
