Touring from Stonecutters, Lydenburg
Lydenburg is at the foot of the Longtom Pass, an historic and spectacular route leading to the many tourist attractions that are within reach on a day trip – Pilgrims Rest, Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window and the many waterfalls and look-out points along the way.
Dullstroom lies just south of Stonecutters Lodge and has much to offer with its numerous galleries, restaurants, shops and home crafts.
Game viewing is available at the Sterkspruit Nature Reserve in Lydenburg, particularly game that occurs naturally in the area such as oribi and mountain reedbuck.
Gustav-Klingbiel Nature Reserve is just outside Lydenburg and is home to various antelope and bird species.
Orighstad Nature Reserve is 60 km from Stonecutters Lodge. Here one can view rhino, hippo, buffalo and other species.
The area offers excellent birding opportunities. Rolling grasslands are home to endangered cranes and the vast and rugged landscape is a haven for nature lovers.
