Fresh Organic Vegetables grown at Stonecutters Lodge!

This is a project that has been on the back-burner for far too long!  The new vegetable garden had been built in the winter months complete with shade netting to keep vervet monkeys at bay!

In Spring, seeds and seedlings were planted in the well-manured soil just in time for a good, soaking rain. Within a week the first shoots were pushing through!

Our kitchen has always used herbs form our own garden – parsley, chives, basil, thyme, coriander, celery, some strawberries. Now we look forward to spinach, beets, pumkin, peas, mealies, onions, peppers and chillies – chillies because they are a natural deterrent to all sorts of creepy crawlies in an organic garden!

Meals at Stonecutters Lodge, whether a breakfast on the deck over the pond or a romantic candle-lit dinner, are always prepared with care and beautifully presented: in future we look forward to the bonus of home-grown organic veggies on the menu!
